Murugan Ashwin: Catches win you matches, and Murugan Ashwin proved it right by taking an absolute blinder of a catch in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League. The SMP leg spinner ran close to 30 meters backwards and put on a full stretched dive to complete the catch. Broadcasters and commentators were left speechless by Ashwin’s stunning catch in the outfield. Star Sports Tamil shared the video of the viral catch.
During the third over of the Dindigul Dragons innings, Gurjapneet Singh bowled a wide ball, which DD batter S Arun tried to hoick over fine leg. However, M Ashwin had other plans as he ran from point, by keeping an eye on the ball, timed his jump to perfection to take one of the best catches of TNPL season. Netzines were left in awe of the terrific catch by the leg spinner and took to Twitter to praise Ashwin.

Despite Ashwin’s terrific effort in the field, SMP still lost the match to DD by seven wickets. Earlier, Madurai had yet another poor outing with the bat in hand as they posted only 123 runs without even batting the full 20 overs. DD batters did not face any issues while chasing the smallish target as Baba Indrajith smashed an unbeaten 78 to help DD chase the target inside 15 overs.
With this thumping win, Dragons top the points table with two wins from two games. CSK and NRL are placed second and third respectively with four points. SMP are placed last with zero points. They have played two games and lost both games. Ballsy Trichy, IDream Tiruppur are the other two teams yet to open their accounts in the ongoing TNPL 2023 season.
