India may have lost the 2nd ODI, but Washington Sundar is confident that they will tie the series 1-1 on July 7. The hosts had downed the Men in Blue in the second ODI, courtesy of Jeffrey Vandersay and skipper Charith Asalanka. However, with master tactician Gautam Gambhir by their side, Washington isn’t worried about the spin threat Sri Lanka poses.
“It’s just about finding the way individually and get the job done. A lot of inputs from Gautam Gambhir about how to counter spin in these conditions. He was an excellent player against spin. A bit of change tactically,” Washington said about the Indian head coach in the pre-match press conference.
Tough conditions helpful
On the verge of losing their first ODI bilateral series to Sri Lanka in 27 years, the off-spinner is confident that playing in tough, spin-friendly conditions will help the Indian team in the ICC events. “This is a big opportunity for all of us to win this game, as we know in such spin-friendly conditions against a quality attack, it will help us for bigger tournaments,” the all-rounder said.
“I am always someone who works hard and tries to be an asset for the team. While bowling, when I am in rhythm, the ball comes out of the hand well,” Washington concluded.
