ODI World Cup 2023: Ahead of the much-awaited PAK vs AFG match on October 23, Afghanistan ace spinner Rashid Khan caught up with ‘captain cool’ MS Dhoni in Chennai. Rashid has been instrumental in Afghianistan’s rise in the cricket world in the last couple and ahead of the crucial against Pakistan, the spinner might have decided to pick Thala’s mind.
Rashid shared an image on his social media with the former Indian skipper and captioned it, “Always a pleasure to meet you Mahi bhai”
Less than a week ago, Afghanistan claimed just their second win in the ODI World Cup, after toppling defending champions in Delhi on October 15. However, the Afghans have had trouble finishing things off against their rivals, Pakistan.
Can Rashid Khan & Co. finally cross the line against Pakistan?
Twice in the last two years, Afghanistan has come close to a victory but has fallen short. Last year in the T20 Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan needed 11 off 6 balls for a chance to make it to the Final. However, two consecutive sixes by Naseem Shah broke their dream of making their first Asia Cup Final.
In August earlier this year, a similar thing occurred this time in an ODI. Naseem was once again the perpetrator, this time hitting a four of the second last ball to take his side home with just one wicket left.
However, now that Naseem is out, the question arises, can Afghanistan get the monkey off their back, and strike a blow to Pakistan and their semifinal chances?
