Waqar Younis appointed as advisor to Mohsin Naqvi as shakeup in PCB continues

PCB continues to make major changes ahead of ICC Champions Trophy with Waqar Younis appointed as cricketing advisor to PCB chairman

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Waqar Younis as the advisor to chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The shakeup in PCB continues ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Reports in Pakistan claim that Waqar Younis is set to look after all the cricketing affairs of the Pakistan Cricket Team.

Th legendary pacer is set to join his post starting from 1st August. Younis who had previously coached Pakistan is now expected to look after the national teams as well as the coaches. Not just one format of the game, Waqar Younis is expected to look after both the white-ball and the red-ball team of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Team has separate red ball and white ball coaches in form of Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten. Apart from the team, Waqar Younis is expected to look after the coaches as well. Furthermore, the former speedster is also expected to work in tandem with the selection committee as well

Currently, Waqar Younis is being appointed for his post as a consultant role. And in the coming days, he is set to appointed as a regular. The shakeup in PCB continues after Pakistan’s poor performance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup. Previously, both Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq were removed from their posts as selectors after numerous controversies arose regarding the team selection.

Not just overlooking the coaches and the teams, Waqar will also be tasked to keep a close eye on domestic cricket. This includes looking at the high-performance center, checking up with the coaches and the pitch curators as well.
