Wanted him to hit big sixes: PBKS owner Preity Zinta shares bittersweet feeling after MS Dhoni’s golden duck

CSK captain MS Dhoni was dismissed for a first-ball duck in Dharamsala

PBKS co-owner and acclaimed actor Preity Zinta shared her disappointment after Punjab Kings lost a crucial match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on May 5. Zinta, like millions of fans, had been hoping for a spectacular performance from former CSK captain MS Dhoni in Dharamsala, but he was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

During a recent interaction with her fans on X (formerly Twitter), Zinta explained her thoughts on PBKS’s 28-run loss to CSK. When a fan asked if she would consider signing MS Dhoni in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, Zinta expressed her admiration for the legendary wicketkeeper-batter.

“Everyone wants him and everyone is his fan, including me. Yesterday was bittersweet. I wanted us to win and him to hit some big sixes, but we lost and he got out,” she responded.

PBKS vs CSK Recap

Despite winning their previous encounter at Chepauk, Punjab Kings couldn’t maintain their momentum due to a lacklustre batting performance. PBKS bowled well after winning the toss and sending CSK to bat first, holding them to 167 runs in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel played pivotal roles, claiming six wickets between them, including the prized scalp of MS Dhoni via a near-unplayable yorker.

However, CSK’s bowlers outperformed their opponents, restricting Punjab Kings to just 139 for 9 in their run chase, ending CSK’s five-match losing streak against PBKS. The defeat virtually eliminates PBKS from the IPL 2024 playoffs race, while CSK’s win boosts their points tally and moves them to the third spot. This victory also gives CSK valuable momentum ahead of their crucial match against Gujarat on May 10.
