Wankhede Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium pitch is well known to be an excellent one for batting. It is a true pitch which allows batter trust the pace and bounce and hit through the line from the get go. The outfield here lightning fast and due to it’s short dimensions high scores are common here, for batters and teams alike.
For the bowlers, there is not much room for errors and they can expect to be dispatched to the boundary even if they slightly off their mark.
This is a chasing ground, out of the four matches played here this season, three have been won by the chasing side. The last two matches has seen the side chase 158 and 186 with 1.5 overs and 2.2 overs left respectively.
Despite being known as a high-scoring ground, the last two matches have not seen the side batting first cross the 200 run mark. With MI batters getting in form and trio of Kohli, Maxwell and du Plessis among runs, one can expect runs galore. The side which wins the toss would like to chase first and anything under 190-200 will be very difficult to defend.
