Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly deferred the announcement of the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. With just one day left to submit the squad, Pakistan are to unveil their 15-member squad for the marquee event. As per reports, PCB chief Naqvi raised objection over the selection process, pulling up the members of the selection committee.
Why Pakistan is delaying T20 World Cup squad announcement?
Naqvi objected to the list of potential squad members sent by the team management from England and raised concerns. Primarily, the PCB chairman flagged the lack of comprehensive consultation within the selection committee. He advocated the need for the entire 7-member committee to meet and take a decision on the squad instead of taking into consideration just the opinions of selectors, coaches and captain.

Only two selectors – Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Yousuf – picked the potential squad after discussions with captain Babar Azam and the coach.
Naqvi noted that the opinions of Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Bilal Afzal, and data analyst Hassan Cheema, who are in Pakistan, were not included. As per the report, Naqvi had no objections with any specific player on the list but was appalled with the incomplete selection process.
