‘Wait continues’, Netizens react as Virat Kohli misses out record equaling 49th ton in IND vs SL

Notably, this is the third time in the World Cup 2023 that Virat Kohli narrowly missed out on a century.

The wait to see Virat Kohli match legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries continues as Kohli got out on 88 during IND vs SL Cricket World Cup match at Wankhede Stadium. He was sent to pavilion by Madushanka in the third delivery of 32nd over.

Kohli along with Shubman Gill were looking to take away the game from Sri Lanka with their 189-run partnership. However, just when both batters were looking set to reach their centuries, Sri Lankan pacers struck with two quick wickets to get the team back on track.

This is the third time in the World Cup 2023 that Kohli narrowly missed out on a century. In the games against Australia and New Zealand, the 34-year-old got dismissed on 85 and 95, respectively and missed out on reaching the three-figure mark.

Talking about the game, Team India are still on course for a 300+ total against Sri Lanka. Currently, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are in the middle and eyeing to take India to a good total.

Notably, a win in this game will make Team India the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
