Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Friday lashed out at Indian legend Virender Sehwag with a one-word response after his half century against Netherlands in the T20 World Cup. After his match-winning knock, the former Bangladesh skipper was asked to respond to Sehwag’s criticism of him at the post-match press conference. Shakib snubbed the question, referring to the former India opener as “who?”.
Shakib back in form
Shakib, who was going through a bad patch, returned to form in style with an unbeaten 64 off 46 balls. His innings helped Bangladesh reach a total of 159. Netherlands lost the tie by 25 runs.
Sehwag digs into Shakib
Ahead of the match, Sehwag referred to Shakib’s recent form as ‘shameful’ and claimed he should have retired long ago.

“During the last World Cup, I thought he should no longer be picked for the T20 format. Time for retirement came a long time ago. You are such a senior player, you were the captain of this team. He should actually be ashamed of your recent numbers. He should come forward and announce yourself that enough is enough, I’m retiring from this format,” Sehwag had said on Cricbuzz.
When Shakib was asked to comment on the remark, Shakib retorted with “who?”. The response has gone viral on social media.
