Virender Sehwag predicts these two young stars will ‘dominate world cricket’

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma nearing the end of their cricketing careers, Sehwag predicts these two players will take the mantle from him.

Indian great Virender Sehwag has named two Indian rising stars who’ll take the reigns from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and dominate world cricket in the coming years. Of course, Sehwag is talking about Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The two young guns showed their prowess, rescuing the Indian cricket team from precarious situations during the India vs England 2nd Test. Jaiswal scored a magnificent double century in the first inning, while Gill smashed a brilliant ton in the second inning, with calls of him getting dropped swirling around.

While applauding the two seriously talented youngsters, Sehwag on his X account wrote:

With Virat Kohli out and Rohit Sharma struggling with the bat, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal have shown what to expect from the India cricket team when the two modern greats finally call it a day.

Being 0-1 down in the series and under immense pressure to continue their dominance at home, the two young guns stepped up. But the two needed their performances on a personal level as well.

Jaiswal needed to prove that he was here to make the opening spot his own after a poor outing in South Africa. On the other hand, Gill was very close to being booted out of the Test team with his continuous failures. But a potential match-winning ton in the second inning may have given him a second life, at least for now.
