Ahead of the IND vs AFG T20I series, former India Cricketer Deep Dasgupta has claimed that Virat Kohli will score 500-600 runs in the T20 World Cup. Both Kohli and Rohit made a comeback in to the shortest format after 14 months. But Deep Dasgupta believes given the form Kohli is in, he will easily score big runs even if he has a poor season.
Virat Kohli was the highlight of the ODI World Cup. Though India failed to win the final, it was Kohli who amassed the highest runs in the tournament. Deep Dasgupta expects nothing less from the former India skipper
“It’s going to be important, but for someone like Virat and Rohit you can’t decide their future based on IPL to a certain extent , and I am sure that Virat will score 500+ runs. He scores 500-600 runs, even if the season is too bad. It will be interesting to see Rohit this season because he is not leading Mumbai Indians, so it will be a different kind of role for Rohit,” Deep Dasgupta told Star Sports.
As for Rohit Sharma, he too makes a return and will lead India against the Pathans. Deep further claims that it will be interesting to see how Rohit performs in the IPL now that Hardik Pandya will captain Mumbai Indians.
But Rohit’s inclusion in the T20 setup, 5 months before the T20 World Cup means it is more or less confirmed that he will lead India in the upcoming ICC tournament.
