Virat Kohli’s “hunger” to “work on one more shot” impresses RCB’s DK ahead of CSK tie

Ahead of CSK vs RCB tie, Dinesh Karthik has backed Virat Kohli to come out on top against the trio of Noor, Ashwin and Jadeja in Chepauk

Royal Challengers Bengaluru mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik revealed that Virat Kohli is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for the tie against CSK. The batting maestro will be up against the likes of Noor, Ashwin and Jadeja on a spin-friendly surface in Chepauk. While Kohli has struggled against spin and in Chennai in the past, Karthik is not really worried about it.

Virat all set for spin battle against CSK?

Speaking to reporters ahead of CSK vs RCB tie, Karthik claimed that Kohli had batter well against spin in the recent past. He revealed that the former RCB captain had wanted to work on one more shot just before DK left for the press conference. Karthik pointed out that Virat had scored runs when it mattered the most, citing his performances in the T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy.

He is batting as well as he has ever done. And you speak to him even today, just now as I came out… he wanted to work on one more shot. At this point of time, to work on one more shot, tells you the hunger that he has in his mindset,” Karthik said.

Kohli gears up for spin trouble in Chennai

Seven out of Kohli’s last eight dismissals in 50-over format have come against spinners. In IPL 2025 opener against KKR, Virat was more comfortable playing against pacers than the spinner duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine. Although the spinners tasted very little success on that night, the RCB batter only managed to score 15 runs off 9 deliveries from Chakravarthy and 9 runs off 11 deliveries from Narine.
