Virat Kohli’s form not a concern, will bounce back in Champions Trophy, predicts ex-India star

Virat Kohli has played 296 ODIs till now and scored 13911 runs in those matches, at an average of 58, including 50 tons.

Virat Kohli has been in poor form for sometime now. After he failed in the IND vs AUS Test series, there were expectations, that he would bounce back in the white-ball formats. But come the ODIs vs England, he missed the first match in Nagpur, and then was out for 5 in Cuttack, getting out to Adil Rashid.

Virat Kohli’s Poor Form a Concern?

Despite many questions being raised over his under par performances, ex-India opener Sunil Gavaskar has backed him to come good in the Champions Trophy, starting from Feb 19. “Kohli is a big-match player, and nothing will motivate him more than the opportunity to score runs and win the Champions Trophy for India.

“After the last Champions Trophy win in 2013, he celebrated with the Gangnam dance, which was the rage way back then. This time, if he helps India win, we could be in for another unique celebration from him,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.

Will Bounce Back in Champions Trophy

But Virat Kohli’s form aside, Gavaskar also said that India were the firm favorites to lift the Champions Trophy. “That’s why India, apart from the talent that they have, will start as firm favourites to win the ICC Champions Trophy once again.

“The spirit in the team is very good, as could be seen by their enthusiastic cheering of their teammates who won individual awards at the recent annual BCCI awards function. A team that is laughing with each other is a happy team that will invariably try and play for each other,” he wrote.
