Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis feels Indian batter Virat Kohli will be instrumental in India’s pursuit to win their first-ever IND vs SA Test series.

Kohli hit a purple patch recently after some struggle in the past few years. Having got back his confidence, the Indian batter came out all guns blazing in the recently concluded 2023 ODI World Cup. Kohli scored 765 in 11 innings for India in the tournament, at a staggering average of over 95. His World Cup exploits consisted of six 50s and 3 centuries, earning him the Player of the Tournament award.

Among his many individual records, one of the most impressive is his achievement of 50 ODI centuries, which he achieved in the semi-final against New Zealand as he passed Sachin Tendulkar.

Moreover, Kohli possesses a stunning record in Tests in South Africa. In 14 innings, the Indian star batter has scored 719 runs at an average of 51.36. During this time, Kohli has scored two hundreds and three fifties as well.

Jacques Kallis believes Kohli’s experience will come in handy during the series. Kohli will be raring to go in the IND vs SA Test series, which is one of his favourite hunting ground.

“He’s a massive player, no matter where it is. Having played here quite a bit and had a fair amount of success. He’ll be able to pass that knowledge on to the other guys, especially the younger guys and give them ideas on how to manage these conditions and then what to expect“, said Kallis

I am sure he will want to have a big series here in South Africa. He has been in good form. I think he will play a major role in helping India. If they are to win here, he will have to have a good series,” added the former all-rounder.
