Virat Kohli dons new persona! Bowls to Shubman Gill at net practice

As team India prepares to face England in the upcoming classic encounter, star Indian batter Virat Kohli was spotted bowling to Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma in the nets. This can be a crucial tactic for the Indian Cricket Team as the Men in Blue aim to continue their high-flying form in the IND vs ENG World Cup clash.

After 5 consecutive wins, India stands on top of the ICC World Cup Points Table. Up next, the Men in Blue will face the defending champions who are in poor form. With the game being scheduled to take place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the pitch will pay huge dividends to spinners.

As a result, Kohli who is a slow medium bowler was spotted bowling to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the nets on India’s optional practice day. The Men in Blue had a fun session with Kohli sweating hard in the nets.

Lucknow has been a heaven for spinners and most likely Ravi Ashwin will be brought into the India squad for that particular reason. On the other hand, Kohli’s bowling in the nets is particularly for 2 main reasons. Firstly, the batters get an idea of the pitch and how the ball can move and turn should England decide to put in an unconventional bowler.

Secondly, should India stick with Jadeja and Kuldeep then there is an added bowling option. With Hardik being absent with his injury, Kohli can join in as a part-time bowler to pick some wickets and trouble the opposition.

Insidesport

It is not surprising that Kohli can bowl. In fact in the match against Bangladesh when Hardik Pandya got injured and had to leave the field, it was the former India team skipper, Virat Kohli who bowled 3 balls to finish the pending over.
