But it isn’t just the fans who have no clue whether Kohli will return or not; it seems like the BCCI hasn’t gotten a clue either.
While talking with the Times of India, a BCCI source revealed that it’ll be the star batter’s ‘call’ whether he wishes to play the series and that the organization respects his personal space and wellbeing.
The call will be entirely on Kohli. The board respects his personal space. If he agrees to play any part in the series, then there’s nothing like that. But it will be his call,” the source said.

As of now, we have 12 days before the start of the India vs England 3rd Test. Having been initially ruled out of the first and second Tests, Virat Kohli may make his return in Rajkot.
The former Indian skipper had faced a long rough patch in Test cricket, having not been able to score a century from 2020 to 2022. Now, having returned to form, the former Indian skipper will not want to miss out on playing at home on what seem to be batting-friendly tracks.
Having ruled himself out due to personal reasons, one can’t be sure if Virat Kohli will return. However, one thing is certain: with Shubman Gill and Shreyas struggling and KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami uncertain, the India cricket team desperately needs their best batter.
