Tensions are flaring high at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). With the India vs Australia Test series on the line, both teams are unwilling to give an inch. As soon as Australia captain, Pat Cummins, decided to have a bat first in the Boxing Day Test, India fielders were at the batter’s throats. Leading the charge as usual is Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli vs Australian batters
The former Indian captain sledged debutant Sam Konstas after he tried to ramp Jasprit Bumrah after every second ball, and then things took a turn when he shoulder barged the 19-year-old. Umpires and players separated the two. Konstas was soon out, but Kohli wasn’t relenting.
As Marnus Labuschagne joined Usman Khawaja in the middle, Kohli was adamant about not giving anything to the Aussies. Mohammed Siraj, who’s become the villain among Australian crowds after giving a sendoff to Travis Head in his home ground of Adelaide, was chirping at Labuschagne once again. Soon after, Kohli shouted to his teammates, “Has ke baat nahi karna inse (Don’t talk nicely with them).”
Luck evades Indian bowlers
It wasn’t just fielders, but the bowling was mean as well. Team India started the second session with four straight maidens as Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep were on the money straight. Edges were coming, and there were pokes and misses but no wickets. This frustrated the bowlers as well. Akash chirped at Khawaja while Siraj continued to have a go as well.
