India’s star batter Virat Kohli surpassed legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to become the player with the most number of 50+ scores in a single edition of Cricket World Cup. The 35-year-old achieved the feat during IND vs NZ semi-final game at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Kohli scored his 8th fifty plus score in the ongoing tournament, surpassing the Master Blaster who scored seven 50+ scores in the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup.

Notably, the former Indian captain also became the player with most runs in a single World Cup edition. Kohli needed 80 runs to go past Sachin for most runs in a single edition of the tournament history.
Notably, Tendulkar scored 673 runs in 2003 World Cup and Kohli needed 80 in this game to break that record.
The Indian stalwart is eyeing multiple records in the ongoing semi-final. Kohli has the chance to overtook Sachin Tendulkar for most ODI centuries with his 50th ODI ton.
Not just Sachin, Kohli also has a golden opportunity to go past former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting for the most International centuries in winning causes.
Kohli is currently tied with the Ponting on 55 tons but he can go past the former Aussie skipper with a match-winning ton at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
