After twin failure, Virat Kohli returns to nets in Chennai as youngsters continue to bat

The Chennai Test was Kohli's first red-ball game in 9 months.

Back to work. Disappointed with himself following his twin failures (6 and 17) in the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test, Virat Kohli hit the nets while Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill were punishing the Bangladeshi batters on the third day in Chennai. The former Indian captain was visibly rusty on what isn’t a regular spin-friendly Chepauk pitch.

Kohli was on his way to the nets when Pant was batting at 99. He waited to see the wicketkeeper get into triple digits and then proceeded to practice. For him, the Chennai Test is over and now he’s eyeing returning to form in Kanpur. It wasn’t just Kohli who decided he needed more batting time; even Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a half-century in the first innings, was also in the nets.
