Chief selector Ajit Agarkar on Tuesday provided Virat Kohli‘s example to showcase the change Indian Cricket has had in the last 10-15 years. According to Agarkar, Kohli’s desire to stay fit and his intense workout regime has ensured the young cricketers have someone to look up to.
Kohli., the poster boy of Indian cricket
Virat Kohli has been the poster boy of Indian cricket for the better part of last two decades. Kohli has been going from strength to strength in all formats, and has been looked up to by budding cricketers.
Kohli has reinvented himself whenever a doubt has been cast on him. He finished as the highest run scorer in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 765 runs. In the ongoing IPL 2024, Kohli is currently the Orange Cap holder, with 316 runs in 5 matches.
Kohli has only gotten fitter
Ajit Agarkar, speaking on a podcast, gave Virat Kohli’s example when he was asked about how fitness for Indian cricketers have changed in time.
“Virat Kohli for example is one of those guys who set a benchmark, and 15 years into his career, he’s only gotten fitter. If someone like him, sets an example and puts forward certain things that you need or certain fitness levels that you need, gradually it progresses across the ecosystem,” Agarkar said.
