No Rohit & Kohli, Team India train indoors due to rain ahead of IND vs PAK clash

Team India had their first training session in Colombo ahead of IND vs PAK Super 4 clash.

Asia Cup 2023: IND vs PAK: Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli skipped Team India’s first practice session in Colombo ahead of IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash.

Rain forced team India to practice indoors at the NCC Ground in Colombo. Both Kohli and Sharma had faced a challenging time in the previous match, contributing to a top-order collapse. However, the duo decided to give the first session a miss which raised few eyebrows and concerns regarding the star duo’s fitness.

However, Rohit Sharma later ended all the speculations around his health when he posted a group picture from gym.

The Indian skipper posed with Axar Patel, Tilak Varma and the trainers for an after gym picture.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared some snaps from the practice sessions where players including KL Rahul, Surykumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill were seen practicing.

KL Rahul to replace Shreyas?

Insidesport

Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid might have to tough call of dropping Shreyas Iyer in order to fit in KL Rahul for IND vs PAK clash on Sep 10.

With Ishan Kishan producing a brilliant knock against Pakistan at number 5, the management would not want to tinker with his position. This means, that BCCI will have to drop Shreyas who wasn’t much effective in the IND vs PAK match.

Another headache that the management will have is to pick between Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami. With Jasprit Bumrah set to return for Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash, either Shami or Shardul have to sit out.

Team India Squad for Asia Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (vc), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumraj, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson (travelling reserve).
