Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant named in Delhi’s probable Ranji Trophy squad

Kohli last played an Ranji Trophy match in 2012 while Pant hasn't featured since 2017.

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Harshit Rana have all been named in Delhi’s probable squad for the second leg of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. The 41-man probable squad announced by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) includes Ayush Badoni, Navdeep Saini, and Yash Dhull.

Delhi names Kohli, Pant & Harshit in probable squad

Delhi will restart their Ranji campaign against Saurashtra in Rajkot on January 23. Placed in Elite Group D, Delhi still has a chance to make the quarterfinals, and if Virat Kohli, Harshit Rana, and Rishabh Pant were to play, these chances would only improve.

DDCA unsure about Kohli & Pant’s participation

Experts, fans, and even India cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir want all players to feature in domestic cricket. But most of the mainstays in the Test squad don’t play due to the hectic international schedule. And DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma doesn’t have much hope that either Kohli or Pant will play for Delhi.

Both Virat and Rishabh’s names are in the probable list. The Ranji Trophy camp is underway. The BCCI has also mentioned players should participate in domestic cricket. I feel Virat and Rishabh should play at least one game, but I don’t think they will,” Ashok Sharma told Indian Express.
