Bheege badam khaate ho? Virat Kohli’s hilarious question to ‘forgetful’ Rohit Sharma

Kohli and Rohit shared a great rapport, as they've played together for the Indian cricket team for the last 16 years.

No one was expecting Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir to have a chat on the eve of the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test. The two have had their differences on the field in the past. Many speculated that the two don’t see eye-to-eye, but the duo quashed those rumours earlier in the year when they shared an embrace in an IPL 2024 match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants. So, when Gambhir was named Rahul Dravid’s successor as India’s next head coach, no one really batted an eye.

They had a wonderful chat, talking about all things. Whether it be Gambhir’s 97 in the World Cup Final, Kohli’s 183 against Pakistan, or how Kohli changed the Indian team. Towards the end, Gambhir revealed that he’ll have a chat with Rohit Sharma next, and what would be Kohli’s question to him?

“So Virat, the next guest is Rohit. What do you want me to ask? What would be the first question to Rohit?” Gambhir asked the former Indian skipper. To this Kohli jokingly replied, “I think it is a very simple question for Rohit ki subah bheege badaam khaate ho ya nahi? (do you eat water-soaked almonds in the morning?)”

This was clearly a dig at Rohit’s forgetfulness. The Indian captain often fails to remember things. Whether it be forgetting whether he’ll bat or bowl first after winning the toss, his playing XI, or even his passport. A common conception in India is that eating almonds helps improve one’s memory, and Kohli’s taking a cheeky dig at his good friend.
