Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday continues to spark debate. Kohli, visibly upset after being caught and bowled by Harshit Rana’s delivery, recently liked an Instagram post by former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif that criticized the umpiring decision.
The dismissal occurred when RCB were set a challenging target of 223 runs. Kohli was dismissed for just 18 runs off 7 deliveries after a caught-and-bowled decision on a ball that appeared to be above the waist. Ball-tracking technology later revealed that the delivery would have been below waist-height if Kohli had maintained his initial batting posture.
What did Mohammad Kaif post on his social media?
Kaif’s post, that was liked by Kohli himself, featured a picture of the RCB star and a strong criticism of the umpires. “Clear unplayable beamer gets Kohli out and a ball that passed under Dhoni’s bat declared wide. Cameras, replays, technology but still such mistakes being made. Poor umpiring,” Kaif wrote.
Kohli’s act of liking the post indicates his own disagreement with the on-field call. Notably, Kohli’s angry antics after the match also led him to get fined 50 percent of his match fees on Monday.
