Virat Kohli likely to miss India vs England 3rd Test

With Virat Kohli out, India must find ways to cope with the absence of their batting mainstay.

Indian cricket fans might have to wait a little longer to see their batting hero Virat Kohli back on the field. India batting great is likely to be out of the third Test match against England in Rajkot starting February 15. India vs England 3rd Test match will be held at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

According to ANI sources, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors still do not know about Virat Kohli availability, hence it is more than likely that he will miss out on Rajkot Test.

Why Virat Kohli is missing India vs England Tests?

This news follows Kohli’s earlier decision to miss the first two Tests citing personal reasons. While the BCCI had remained tight-lipped about the exact reason, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers confirmed on his YouTube channel that Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child.

This exciting development explains Kohli’s absence and highlights his priorities. As de Villiers rightly expressed, “family time and things are important to him,” and his decision to be there for his growing family deserves respect.

While speculations around Anushka’s second pregnancy surfaced in November 2023, the couple has maintained a private stance and not officially shared any updates. With de Villiers confirming the news, heartfelt congratulations are pouring in for the star couple.

Who will replace Kohli?

With Virat Kohli out, India must find ways to cope with the absence of their batting mainstay.

Right-handed batsman Rajat Patidar has been included as a replacement in the India squad for first two Tests, but filling Kohli’s shoes won’t be easy. India lost the first Test narrowly against England, and Kohli’s presence could have potentially altered the outcome.

The news of Virat Kohli absence will undoubtedly disappoint fans eager to see him play. However, the joy of welcoming a new addition to the family brings its own kind of cheer. While Virat Kohli might miss the third Test, fans can hope to see him back in action soon, wielding his willow with renewed motivation and celebrating victories with his growing family.
