Virat Kohli joins Team India in New York ahead of T20 World Cup warm-up clash

Kohli was scheduled to travel to New York on May 25 along with the first batch of players, but the former skipper chose to stay back for five extra days.

Virat Kohli has joined the Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup! The star batter, who’d decided to stay back home for an extended period of time, has joined the Indian contingent in New York. Kohli had left for the USA last night (May 30), but no update about his arrival had come.

“Virat Kohli has checked in at the team hotel, and after a long flight, he would be taking rest,” a senior BCCI source told PTI.

The former Indian skipper was scheduled to travel across the Atlantic on May 25 with the first batch of players. However, Virat Kohli decided to delay his departure for the T20 World Cup. He chose to have a cooling-down period and enjoy five extra days with his loved ones before jetting off to New York.

When will jet-lagged Kohli play?

Following 16 hours of arduous travel, Kohli is expected to take some rest. The PTI report stated that the star batter will have three practice sessions before he plays. This suggests that he’ll most likely miss the India vs Bangladesh warm-up match on June 1 and will be in action directly on June 5 against Ireland.
