Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly claimed that Virat Kohli is India’s main strength ahead of the IND vs PAK clash in Champions Trophy. The arch-rivals will lock horns on February 23 in Dubai. Ganguly reckoned that Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play a crucial role for India in the high-octane clash.
Virat, Rohit important for IND vs PAK clash: Ganguly
Speaking to RevSportz, Ganguly named Virat as a key player for the IND vs PAK clash alongside Rohit Sharma. The former Indian skipper said that Virat was playing really well off late. Ganguly stressed on the need for the entire team to stand up and deliver when it mattered the most in Champions Trophy.
“He (Virat) is playing very well, there is no question about it. He will be India’s strength and key player along with Rohit Sharma. Rohit is also equally important. His form is important. I hope the entire team will stand up and perform,” Ganguly said.

Ganguly brushed aside the threat posed by the Pakistan pacers in Champions Trophy. He said that there was no need for India to prepare separately for Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. ‘Dada’ pointed out that India had played against the best fast-bowling attacks across the globe. Ganguly backed the Indian batters to effectively deal with the pacers, noting that “these guys are good enough to do it.“
Both Rohit and Kohli broke free from the shackles of poor form in the IND vs ENG ODI series in what was a promising sign for India ahead of the Champions Trophy. While the Hitman scored a scintillating century in Cuttack, Kohli proved his worth with a fine half-century in Ahmedabad. All eyes will be on the two veterans as India aim to clinch their second Champions Trophy title which they last lifted in 2013.
