It’s been a peculiar T20 World Cup for Virat Kohli. The star batter, who’s the most prolific batter in the history of the mega-tournament, has scored 5 runs in 3 matches (1, 4, and 0). The two-time ‘Player of the Tournament’ is going into the business end (Super 8) without any success for the first time ever.
No rest for Virat Kohli
Struggling, what does Kohli do? He decided to toil hard in the nets in the Barbados heat. It wasn’t just Kohli, but the entire team decided to partake in the ‘optional’ practice ahead of the IND vs AFG match at the Kensington Oval on June 20. However, knowing how he’s among runs, he spent the most time of any Indian player in the nets.
India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, also decided to give Kohli some special practice. Instead of going for a bowling machine or throwdown specialist, Dravid himself gave throwdowns to the modern great amid his lean patch.
Given what stands on the line, Kohli chose rigorous training over rest. Before the India vs USA match on June 12, the former skipper decided to skip the optional practice, but having reached the Super 8 now and his eyes set on the T20 World Cup trophy, he knows now’s not the time to rest.
