Virat Kohli happiest man as Rohit Sharma smashes record breaking WC century

With 84-ball 131, Rohit Sharma shrugged off disappointments of a duck against Australia to delight Delhi crowd but his "rival" Virat Kohli was the happiest man as he cheered his teammate from the dressing room and on the opposite end.

There might be talks of a rift, it never shows on the pitch. When Rohit Sharma smashed his 31st ODI ton and 7th in ODI World Cup, Virat Kohli jumped in joy in the dressing room. Rohit hammered a 63-ball century to break records of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.

Coming to the match on the back off scoring a duck against Australia, Rohit Sharma returned to form. He hammered 14 boundaries and four big sixes to delight Delhi crowd.

Rohit Sharma records

  • Most centuries in World Cup (7)
  • Most centuries in a single World Cup edition (5 in 2019)
  • Joint-fastest to 1000 runs in World Cup
  • Fastest century by an Indian in World Cup (63 balls)
  • Most ODI centuries (After Sachin Tendulkar & Virat Kohli)
  • Most centuries as an opener (29) after Sachin Tendulkar (45)

Rohit Sharma unleashed carnage in Delhi, hammering 131 runs off 84 balls. He set the stage as Ishan Kishan remained a silent spectator on the other end. The two added 156 runs off just 112 balls with Rohit scoring 102 of them.

After Ishan Kishan departed, Rohit partnered with Virat Kohli to score another 49 run-stand off 42 balls.
