Hero of IPL to Zero of T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli has been in red hot form heading into the T20 World Cup. He was the highest scorer in last year’s ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Come IPL 2024, he continued his rich vein of form in for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Kohli stole the headlines by winning the Orange Cap – Highest Run getter with 741 runs from 15 innings. But it is completely different this time in the mega tournament.

Virat Kohli has managed to score just 75 from 7 innings. With a highest score of 37, an average score of 10 and 2 ducks, it is safe to say this tournament hasn’t been kind for the ace batter.

Against England in the semis, Kohli managed to score 9 runs from equal deliveries. After a flurry of dot balls, he however played a classic no-look shot for a huge six. But tragedy struck soon, a delivery later he was bowled by a good ball from Reece Topley.

Interestingly, Kohli has struggled a lot against left arm pacers. In T20Is in 2024, Kohli managed to score 21 runs from equal balls with 2 sixes, 12 dot balls and 3 dismissals.
