Frustrated with his rare failure, Virat Kohli decided to give the fourth umpire an earful. The star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter, who’d fallen to Jasprit Bumrah in the third over, wasn’t too pleased with a controversial no-ball call made by the third umpire, Virendra Sharma.
In the last over of the final inning, Akash Madhwal bowled a waist-high no-ball to Dinesh Karthik. The delivery was called an illegitimate one immediately, following which Karthik refused a run. However, much to RCB’s displeasure, upon a review by the Mumbai Indians, the call was overturned.
Virat Kohli unimpressed by the ‘wrong call’
With the score reading 178/8 after 19.1 overs, RCB needed every single run. But he missed out on runs and a free hit. Following the overturned decision, Kohli decided to have a chat with the fourth umpire in the dugout. It almost seemed like smoke was coming out of Kohli’s ears as he had an animated chat with the umpire.
Luckily for RCB, that ‘wrong’ call didn’t affect them. The four remaining balls went for 18 runs, as Dinesh Karthik smashed three boundaries (2 sixes and 1 four) to end the inning on a high and post a big 197-run target.
