“Virat Kohli even retained…”: Emotional Siraj still not over being released by RCB

Siraj revealed that Virat Kohli had played a crucial role in his career and opened up on his feelings on being released by RCB

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj revealed it has been very emotional for him to part ways with the side. After spending seven seasons with the trophy-less franchise, the Hyderabad pacer was released and now has found a new home in Gujarat Titans. Ahead of IPL 2025, Siraj opened up about how Virat Kohli played a crucial role in his career.

Siraj credits Kohli for his growth in RCB

As per ANI, Siraj revealed that he had received Kohi’s backing during his tough times in 2019 and 2019. He said that it was due to the former skipper’s support that his performance improved over the years. He added that it was very hard for him to move on from RCB.

To be honest, Virat Kohli has a huge hand in my career. He backed me in my bad times – 2018 and 2019 – he supported me, he even retained me, and after that, my performance and graph went up. He has been very supportive. It has been very emotional for me to leave RCB,” Siraj said.

Further Siraj revealed that he was gelling up well with his new teammates. Siraj was purchased by GT for Rs 12.25 crore in the mega auction.. In a warm-up game, he bowled five yorkers, hinting at at mouth-watering treat for fans in the upcoming edition.

I am feeling very pleasant training with them all, teammates, and especially being here in Gujarat Titans,” Siraj added.

Siraj’s response to CT 2025 snub

Earlier, Siraj had taken an indirect jibe at India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma over his Champions Trophy snub. The pacer has not featured in an international game after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

I have taken the most wickets with the old ball in the past year among the world’s ten fastest bowlers. My economy rate is also low. The numbers speak for themselves. I have performed well with both the new and old ball,” Siraj had said.
