Virat Kohli dons coach’s hat, trains potential Will Jacks’ replacement ahead of RCB vs CSK

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been training at their home, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, for more than a couple of days now and their talisman Virat Kohli is perhaps looking for some strategic planning!

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) camp is buzzing with activity as they gear up for their critical match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 18. In a video uploaded by the franchise on the eve of the game, fans were treated to a special sight – Virat Kohli, turning into a bowling coach for a batsman who could be a potential replacement for Will Jacks.

The video featured star batsman Kohli engaged in an intense throwdown session with young batsman Mahipal Lomror. Kohli wasn’t just providing throwdowns, but also actively mentoring Lomror, offering advice and seemingly trying to bowl in a way that would encourage Lomror to hit the long ball. This interaction has sparked speculation among fans, particularly considering the absence of the explosive English all-rounder, Will Jacks.

Will Jacks and Reece Topley left the RCB camp to travel back to England to fulfill their international duties ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. Jacks turned RCB’s fortunes upside around. His inclusion mid way in the tournament proved to be great for RCB as he influenced with 230 runs at a superb strike rate of 175.57.

RCB and CSK gear up for perhaps the biggest IPL 2024 league match

The upcoming clash between RCB and CSK is more than just a game – it’s a high-stakes battle for playoff survival. Both teams desperately need a win to keep their IPL dreams alive.

RCB, after a shaky start, have clawed their way back with a stunning five-match winning streak. However, they still find themselves precariously perched at number six in the standings. To secure a playoff spot, they need a win against CSK with a significant margin (think 18+ runs) or chase down a target within a specific timeframe (before 18.1 overs). Talk about pressure!

While CSK are slightly better off at number four, a win against RCB would guarantee their place in the playoffs. A loss, however, would leave them in a precarious position, their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
