Virat Kohli denies Rishabh Pant’s entry to RCB? DC captain lambasts rumors ahead of IPL 2025 Auction

Pant’s response makes it clear that he is committed to Delhi Capitals, and any rumours about his transfer to RCB are just that—rumours.

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, speculation and rumours are in full swing. The latest controversy involves Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, who firmly denied rumours suggesting his move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a team which consist of Virat Kohli. The reports had suggested Pant was eyeing a shift to RCB, but the explosive wicketkeeper-batter quickly set the record straight, slamming the rumours as baseless.

Rumours of Rishabh Pant move to RCB spark controversy

The controversy began when a social media user claimed that Pant had approached RCB through his manager, hinting that Pant was interested in a captaincy role at the franchise. The post, which credited an anonymous “RCB source,” suggested that Pant’s proposal had been rejected, allegedly because Virat Kohli was not in favour of his inclusion due to supposed “political tactics” within the Indian team and at Delhi Capitals.

The tweet read, “Rishabh Pant approached RCB through his manager earlier this week as he foresees a captaincy vacancy there but got declined by RCB’s management. Virat doesn’t want Pant in RCB due to his political tactics in the Indian team as well as in DC.”

Rishabh Pant fiery response on Social Media

Rishabh Pant wasted no time in addressing these claims. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the DC captain categorically denied any involvement in the rumoured transfer talks. In a strongly worded post, Pant accused those spreading the rumours of creating an “untrustworthy environment” without reason.

Fake news. Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media? Be sensible, guys, so bad. Don’t create an untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time, and won’t be the last, but I had to put this out,” Pant wrote. He urged people to fact-check with credible sources and expressed frustration over the increasing spread of misinformation.

Building Tension ahead of IPL 2025 Auction

The timing of the rumour could not have been more disruptive, with IPL teams gearing up for the 2025 auction. For Pant, who recently made a comeback to cricket after a 15-month injury layoff, the focus is on leading Delhi Capitals to a successful season. His return to the IPL has been widely anticipated, and he has reiterated his commitment to Delhi Capitals, quelling any further speculation of a transfer to RCB.

As for Virat Kohli, the RCB stalwart has not commented on the issue. The idea of any tension between the two stars seems unfounded, and it is unlikely that RCB is planning to change their leadership structure ahead of the 2025 season.

No Room for Distraction as IPL 2025 Approaches

Both Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli are pivotal to their respective teams’ futures. Pant’s rebuttal comes as teams and players prepare for the IPL 2025 auction, where franchises will be looking to build strong squads for the upcoming season. With the auction on the horizon, the last thing teams need is unfounded speculation distracting from their preparations.

Pant’s response makes it clear that he is committed to Delhi Capitals, and any rumours about his transfer to RCB are just that—rumours. As the IPL 2025 auction nears, both players will be focused on their own teams, leaving little room for drama.
