Virat Kohli calls hugging Rohit Sharma after winning T20 World Cup, ‘a special memory’

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have played cricket since 2008 and 2007, respectively, but have never won a World Cup together.

It was a day to remember! An emotional day for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the duo who are going to bid T20Is adieu after the T20 World Cup, had moments during the celebrations in Mumbai. The two greatest players of the current generation have often been pitted against each other, and some have even claimed that the two don’t see eye to eye. But, throughout the T20 World Cup, Kohli and Rohit have continued to dispel those rumours.

Weights off their shoulders

During his interview at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli revealed that winning a World Cup together has been a dream for him and Rohit. After their ODI World Cup heartbreak, the duo would have liked to get the monkey off their back and finally get an ICC trophy to their names.

“Rohit (Sharma) and me I tried this for so long (to win the World Cup). I hope we both have carried the burden well, and it’s a truly special feeling to be the trophy back at Wankhede Stadium.” Kohli said this while talking to Gaurav Kapur.

Once-in-a-lifetime moment for Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma

“This is the first time in 15 years I have seen Rohit show so much emotion. When I was walking up the stairs, he was crying. I was crying, and it’s going to be a special memory for me,” Kohli further added on how emotional it was when they finally won the T20 World Cup.
