Virat Kohli Batting Record: Ricky Ponting predicts, ‘Kohli will break more BATTING RECORDS without captaincy pressure
“He is 33 years of age now and he will want to continue playing for a few more years and I am sure and have a crack at breaking some records that he is not far off breaking. Maybe if he does that as a batter and without the extra responsibility of captaincy, it might make it a bit easier for him,” said Ponting.
Some of the records that Kohli can break
- Virat Kohli is currently placed third in the list of most international centuries by a batsman.
- He has scored 70 tons across all formats and is just one shy of equalling Ricky Ponting’s century tally.
- With an international century, eluding the former Indian captain for two years now, he will be eager to score one in the upcoming series and reach the second spot.
- If he manages to score two tons in this three-match ODI series, he will surpass Ricky Ponting and will only be behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 tons to his name.
- Kohli is just 38 runs away from scoring 8000 runs in Test cricket. Once he reaches the landmark, he will become the sixth Indian batsman to reach the milestone.
- If he scores one more Test ton, he will equal Hasim Amla and Michael Clarke’s record of 28 Test centuries.
