Sunil Gavaskar is fully in awe of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the former Indian cricketer believes that they will end up in the same league as Dhoni and Tendulkar

It looks like Sunil Gavaskar, who was recently under scrutiny for criticizing Virat Kohli’s strike rate and Rohit Sharma’s intent, now also believes that, apart from all the fuss, they both are greats of the game. Talking to Star Sports, Gavaskar said that Virat and Rohit’s jersey numbers, which are 18 and 45, surely go along with the jersey numbers 7 and 10, which belong to MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, two more greats of the game.

Faced backlash after questioning Kohli’s strike rate and Rohit Sharma’s intent

As mentioned, Gavaskar had been under pressure after questioning Virat Kohli’s strike rate and Rohit Sharma’s intent in T20I cricket. Since then, the legend has faced backlash, just because he questioned them, people are also criticizing his intent. Focusing on what he did in the 1975 World Cup game against England, where he played 174 balls and made just 36 runs.

What can we expect from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in T20 World Cup 2024?

Both players are surely under pressure since the last 2022 T20 World Cup, as there has been speculation that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would not feature in the 2024 edition. However, they are still here and performing wonders, especially Virat Kohli, who leads the IPL 2024 batting list with more than 600 runs.
