Virat Kohli 100th Test: Virat Kohli ended the press conference exile on his 100th Test match in Mohali against Sri Lanka. While he scored a well-crafted 45, he could not get to the 50 or 100-run mark. Kohli said he was nervous and felt he was making his Test debut all over again. The last time Virat Kohli attended a press conference, it created a storm as he pointed fingers at the selectors and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, indirectly accusing them of lying. On Friday, he had his family present besides all BCCI top brass including Ganguly rooting for him on his 100th Test.

With the bat, Kohli looked ever-elegant apart from the one delivery that he was dismissed on. Till his 45th run, Kohli looked in great touch and was on course to get his fifty and perhaps ending the century drought. But it was not to be.
Lasith Embuldeniya’s delivery turned a little by just a degree or so and it cleaned up Kohli’s stumps. Virat Kohli just stood there in disbelief before the crowd applauded his efforts with applaud and standing ovation.

157 – Rahul Dravid
160 – Virender Sehwag
166 – Sunil Gavaskar
169 – Virat KoHLI
201 – VVS Laxman
However, during his 76-ball stay, Virat Kohli completed his 8,000 Test runs, becoming only the 6th Indian batsman to achieve the feat.
Kohli said he was disappointed to not convert the good start once again but he was not bothered with scoring 40s and 50s.
“Obviously disappointed as I got a good start. I was batting well. You obviously feel disappointed as a batsman. Endeavour is always to make sure to play a big innings for the team and put the team in a strong position,” Virat Kohli said.
