Virat Kohli 100th Test: Kohli to play 100th Test in Mohali – Former India captain Virat Kohli may miss out on playing his 100th Tets at his second home ground in Bengaluru as the Sri Lanka series will now be reversed, starting with the T20 series. Kohli was slated to begin his non-captaincy days and play his 100th Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from February 25 against Sri Lanka. Follow IND vs SL Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

As per a Cricbuzz report, the batting maestro will now play his 100th Test in Mohali which will be the 1st Test. Having led Royal Challengers Bangalore for nearly seven years, it would have been fitting had he played his 100th Test at the same ground. But the change in schedule may not allow him to do that.

A KSCA official confirmed to InsideSport that Chinnaswamy will host the 2nd match instead of the first from March 12.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board requested BCCI to start the bilateral series with three T20Is as the Sri Lankan team will be arriving from Australia having played 5-match T20 series. While the board hasn’t officially announced the change in schedule, the BCCI is expected to accept the request.

The series will start with three-match T20 series on February 24 in Lucknow followed by second and third on February 26 and 27 in Dharamsala. The Test series will start on March 3 in Mohali which will be Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match. The second and final Test match will be played in Bengaluru.

Earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said in an interview that the Bengaluru Test will be a Day/Night affair.

“Yes, the pink-ball Test will be happening in Bengaluru. We have not decided on all the venues for the Sri Lanka series yet, but it will be announced shortly,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

However, contrary to earlier report, KSCA hasn’t been informed whether the Bengaluru Test will be a Day/Night match.

“As I said, the only information we have on the match is that it will be played from March 12. We haven’t yet received any confirmation that it will be a Day/Night match. But we are ready even if it is a Day/Night match or a normal Day match,” the KSCA official told InsideSport.
