‘Virat knows exactly what’s planned’: Sanjay Majrekar explains how Australia has prepared for IND vs AUS Test

India take on Australia for the 1st Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy on 22nd November in Perth

With just a few days remaining for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, ace India Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli has come under the scanner for his poor form. And the Australia Cricket Team will be ready to pounce on his poor form and has planned accordingly. But former India cricketer Sanjay Majrekar believes that Kohli knows about this and will be ready to ride the tide and perform well.

In the 2024 Calendar year, Virat Kohli has managed just 1 Test fifty and no Test tons. Adding more concerns, on his last 60 Test innings Kohli just has 11 fifties and 2 centuries to his name. This raises major concerns as in 2024, Kohli has managed just a mere average of 22.72 in 6 Test matches.

Kohli prepared for Aussie challenge

“I think Virat knows exactly what’s going to be planned. They’ll start with that line outside the off stump and gauge what his mindset is. These days, he often leaves balls outside off and looks to drive anything pitched up,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Manjrekar went on to explain how the Aussies will try to bowl outside the offside in the hope that Kohli nicks the outside deliveries to throw away his wicket. While the Kiwis used a different strategy, ground conditions in Australia will force the hosts to implement a wide variety of tactics to dismiss the ace India Cricket Team batter in the IND vs AUS Test series.

“Australia might also try to cramp him for room and attack his body since he likes to get forward. This was a tactic New Zealand used effectively. If he’s focused on balls outside off stump, bowlers like Josh Hazlewood might target that typical Vernon Philander line on middle stump. Australia will test various strategies, and Virat Kohli is fully aware of that,” said Manjrekar.
