Vijay Hazare 2021: Prithvi shaw’s magic continues as Mumbai enters final to play UP– Prithvi Shaw’s blistering century against Karantaka in the semifinal has helped Mumbai enter the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. The 21-year-old slammed 165 runs and the bowlers did the rest of the job for Mumbai. Karnataka were bowled out for just 250 runs. They had a dismal start as they lost the skipper R Samarth quite early while other batsmen except Padikkal failed to do well.

Mumbai will next face Karan Sharma-led Uttar Pradesh in the final on Sunday.

Devdutt Padikkal looked good for his half-century but he too departed after scoring fifty. He also broke Mayank Agarwal’s record of most runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy, felling just 7 runs short of Prithvi Shaw. The latter has become the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 754 runs.

Mumbai defeats Karantaka by 72 runs, enters final of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021

Earlier, opening batsman and Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw on Thursday slammed his fourth century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. He also became the leading run-scorer in the ongoing tournament.

The right-handed batsman brought up his century off just 79 balls in the semi-final against Karnataka. The 21-year-old Shaw went on to play a knock of 165 runs off just 122 balls with the help of 17 fours and 7 sixes. Shaw has taken his tally to 754 runs in the tournament and as a result, he has become the leading run-scorer.

Prithvi Shaw Also went on to broke Mayank Agarwal’s record of scoring most runs in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy edition. In the ongoing edition, Shaw has managed to score 754 runs from seven matches and as a result, he has broken Agarwal’s record who had registered 723 runs in the 2017-18 edition.

Earlier, R Samarth won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat first in the crucial fixture.

After Prithvi Shaw’s heroics, Karantaka came back stronger and got Mumbai all out for 322 runs in 49.2 overs. Mumbai lost the last five wickets for just 36 runs. Y Vyashak scalped four wickets while M Parsidh also picked up three wickets.
