M Chinnaswamy Stadium

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium is one of the major international cricket stadiums in India. The construction of the M Chinnaswamy stadium began in 1970. The stadium is located in the middle of the city of Bengaluru beside Cubbon Park. It was previously known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium but later got renamed in the memory of Mr. M. Chinnaswamy who contributed significantly for the Karnataka State Cricket Association and was the President of BCCI between 1977 to 1980. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium is the home ground for the Karnataka Cricket Team and the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. The seating capacity of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is 40,000. The first Test match at the stadium was played between India and West Indies which was interestingly the debut match for one of the greatest batters of all time Sir Vivian Richards. Gordon Greenidge also debuted in the same game. It is the only stadium in India which is generating its required amount of energy through solar panels. The stadium has hosted 24 Tests, 26 ODIs, and 8 T20Is.
