There’s no stopping Deepak Dhapola! The Uttarakhand pacer is on a roll in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-24, taking hattricks in back-to-back matches. After taking his maiden hattrick against Puducherry, the Uttarakhand speedster backed it up with a another hattrick against Delhi on Saturday.
On Day 2 of the match between Delhi and Uttarakhand in Elite Group D, Dhapola ran riot with 4 wickets including a hattrick to reduce Delhi to 11/5 at Mohali’s Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.
Dhapola’s demolition began with the final ball of the first over of Delhi’s second innings, when he dismissed opener Arpit Rai for a duck after a mere six balls. He backed it up by removing the former Under-19 ODI World Cup winning skipper Yash Dhull for a golden duck in the first ball of his second over. He then completed his hattrick by taking the wicket of Kshitiz Sharma in the next delivery. Notably, Kshitiz was brought into Delhi’s starting XI at the expense of Delhi’s star batter Ayush Badoni.
Dhapola’s most recent performance came just a few days after he cleaned up the batting order of Puducherry to register an impressive 6/32 off 11 overs including a hat-tick at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy Stadium in Dehradun. Unfortunately for Uttarakhand, despite Dhapola’s impressive performance on the field, they had to endure defeat.
