With just a few days to go before the T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off, excitement of the cricket fans around the tournament are hitting the roof. The tournament kicks off with co-hosts USA taking on Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on June 2nd. However, rain threat looms large in the opener, with severe rain marring three out of four warm-up matches scheduled in the stadium.
Warm-up matches hampered by rain
The Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas had four warm-up matches scheduled prior to the start of the T20 World Cup 2024. The T20 World Cup opener between Canada and USA is in doubt too. With just two days to go before the tie, Texas is seeing rainfall almost everyday. The weather forecast for June 2, when the T20 WC opener is scheduled, doesn’t look too promising either.
According to Weather.com, June 2 will be a partly cloudy day with the possibility of rainfall ranging from 21 to 24%. However, even the slightest rain could result in the abandonment of the match, with the stadium seeing rain almost everyday before the match.
