Star pacer Trent Boult gave a dream start for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their third IPL 2024 game against the Mumbai Indians (MI). The left-arm pacer silenced the Wankhede Stadium crowd as he sent back Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir in his very first over.
The RR pacer gave an exemplary display of fast bowling as he danced the MI batters to his tune. After leaking just a single in the first four balls, he edged one past Rohit Sharma. Sanju Samson plucked a superb catch behind the stumps as the former MI skipper endured a golden duck.
Boult then caught Naman Dhir in front of the stumps two make it two in two for the visitors. His opening over sent MI reeling at 1/2.
In his very next over, another one bit the dust as Dewald Brevis, who was sent in as an impact player, threw his hands and was caught at short third man. This was another golden duck by a MI batter as Boult completely wreaked havoc.
Young batter Tilak Varma handled Boult well enough in the Kiwi pacer’s third over. The left-hander accumulated ten runs off the over.
Boult finished his quota of four overs at 3/22, which has now become his personal-best bowling performance for Rajasthan Royals in IPL cricket.
