The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) aren’t satisfied with the performance of their current bowling coach, Andre Adam. The former New Zealand pacer had joined the Bangladesh cricket team in February 2024 for a two-year period. However, 11 months before his contract ends, the BCB wish to replace him.
BCB look to replace current Bangladesh bowling coach
According to Cricket Pakistan, Umar Gul and Shaun Tait are among the top contenders for the role. Both of these former fast bowlers have worked with Asian cricket teams in the past. Tait had worked as a bowling consultant with Afghanistan while Gul was their bowling coach for 6-7 months.
Both have worked with Pakistan as well. Tait had served as the bowling coach for 1 year while Gul had worked for the team for just one series in 2023.
The BCB has been in turmoil. The board had sacked head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe just months before the 2025 Champions Trophy and things had gotten messy between him and the BCB. Former BCB cricketer and president Faruque Ahmed had claimed that Hathurusinghe had attacked a player and announced Phil Simmons as the replacement.
There have been other issues as well. Two of Bangladesh’s biggest cricket stars, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have also retired. The former fears for his safety in the nation due to his political ties with the former ruling party Awami League while the latter had fallouts with Shakib and BCB retired.
