IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Ravichandran Ashwin joins India squad on Day 4 of IND vs ENG Rajkot Test

India Cricket Team fans can rejoice. Not because the hosts have a upper hand in the contest, but also with the return of Ravichandran Ashwin. The veteran all-rounder left the India squad on Day 2 for a family emergency. But now on Day 4 he is back with the team.

Ashwin travelled to Rajkot from Chennai and reached the stadium directly from the airport. Ashwin was initially tipped to join the India team on Day 4. But Ashwin upon joining the team made way to the ground following tea on Day 4 in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. It was the BCCI who organised a chartered flight for Ashwin to take him to Chennai and back to Rajkot.

During commentary Ravi Shastri heaped praises for the BCCI. “BCCI secretary Jay shah had arranged charter plane for Ashwin’s trip home and back,” said Shastri

“The empathy shown by the BCCI to the players will surely go a long way. The players know they have the backing and it means a lot to them,” added Shastri.

What Happened To Ravi Ashwin?

Ravichandran Ashwin decided to withdraw himself from the team after stumps on Day 2. The BCCI announced that the player is to tend to a family emergency. It was later learnt that Ashwin has travelled back to Chennai as his mother was hospitalised.

However, Ashwin was eager to return to the team. He got the clearance from the umpires and the match officials. And on Day 4 he travelled to Rajkot and reached the ground directly from the airport.
