Unfair! Fans feel betrayed as Sanju Samson returns to IND vs SA ODI squad

Twitter fans are split as Sanju Samson returns to the India Cricket Team roster for the ODI series against South Africa.

Life is not actually fair if your name is Sanju Samson. When the ODIs were in focus, Samson was in T20 squad and when the T20 World Cup is in focus, the Kerala superstar has made it to the ODI squad. As selectors named squads for IND vs SA series, some fans were left disappointed while for some, it was bittersweet moment. While return of Samson is a positive, his absence from T20Is raises questions about whether he is still in scheme of things for T20 WC.

Sanju Samson, with his solid batting and quick wicketkeeping, has had a rollercoster ride in the Indian cricket setup. The 29-year-old cricketer is anxious to make his mark after last appearing in an ODI in August during the West Indies series. Samson’s comeback brings a dynamic edge to the team, having played 13 ODIs and 24 T20Is for India.

Since making his ODI debut in July 2021, Samson has amassed 390 runs in 13 matches at an excellent average of 55.71 and a strike rate of 104.00. Despite setbacks, like as missing out on the World Cup roster, Samson’s tenacity has catapulted him back into contention for the South Africa series.

Rajat Patidar, who has recovered from injury, also finds a place in the ODI squad. However Suryakumar Yadav has been rested for the Indian ODI side. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh have also been named in the same. The IND vs SA ODI squad will be lead by KL Rahul.

Squad for IND vs SA ODIs:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (C)(wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar.
