Digital learning platform Unacademy has come on board as title sponsor of the Road Safety World Series T20 tournament. The out-of-classroom education platform through this partnership will aim to create awareness towards road safety in India.

As part of the deal, the veterans cricket series will now be called Unacademy Road Safety World Series, which will be featuring yesteryear greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Brett Lee. A cricket master class with the legends will be broadcast exclusively on Unacademy app, website and YouTube channel.

The Road Safety World Series, a five-nation T20 cricket tournament, will showcase some of the biggest names in cricket from India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa.

Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brett Lee, Brad Hodge, Jonty Rhodes, Hashim Amla, Muttiah Muralitharan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Ajantha Mendis are some of the leading names who will be seen in action during the series.

Former India captain, Sunil Gavaskar is the Commissioner of the Series.

The matches will be broadcast live on Colors Cineplex, while Voot and Jio are the digital partners.

Every year, more than 1.5-2 lakh people die on Indian roads due to vehicular accidents; one person dies every 4 minutes and 1,214 road accidents occur every day in the country. In the last five years, more than 65 lakh people were disabled completely. As cricket is the most followed sport in the country and cricketers are looked up to as idols, the Series aims to create awareness about road safety and change people’s mind-set towards their behaviour on the roads.

Mr Ravi Gaikwad, RTO Chief of Thane (Konkan Range), who is also a senior member of the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra and Chairman of the Trust, Shant Bharat Surakshit Bharat, said: “I am glad that Unacademy has come forward as the title sponsor of the Road Safety World Series which is being organised to create awareness towards a menace that is killing one person every four minutes in this country. This Series is about teaching one and all the importance of road safety, it is about generating a mass movement to stop this mindless deaths of precious human lives, it is about showing compassion towards one another, and what better than an education platform like Unacademy to spread these messages.”
