Uday Saharan continues long-stand Indian skipper’s tradition in U19 World Cup Final

Uday Saharan continues long-stand Indian skipper’s tradition in U19 World Cup Final

Saharan had scored a match-winning 81 in the semifinal after India were reduced to 32/4 but failed to recreate the same magic in the final, scoring just 8.

India Under-19 skipper Uday Saharan failed to recreate his semifinal magic in the U19 World Cup Final. The right-handed batter failed to rescue his team from trouble after doing so just three days ago at the same venue. The middle-order batter managed to score just 8, as he was dismissed by Mahli Beardman in the 17th over while chasing 254.

The India U-19 skipper followed in the footsteps of Indian greats like Mohammed Kaif and Virat Kohli. However, the record isn’t the one that he or any of his predecessors would have liked to have. Uday Saharan becomes the 8th Indian skipper to not even cross the 30-run mark in an U19 World Cup Final.

Apart from Unmukt Chand, no Indian skipper has managed to score even fifty, let alone a hundred.
